Tanzanian gospel sensation Christina Shusho has sparked controversy after publicly endorsing President Samia Suluhu, a move that has drawn sharp criticism from her fans and supporters.

The singer, known for her uplifting music, shared a message on Instagram featuring the official portrait of the Tanzanian leader, which left many feeling she was overlooking recent events affecting both Tanzania and Kenya.

In her caption, Shusho wrote, “Neema ya Mungu ikutoshwe mama, tuna mtukuza Mungu kwa ajili yako,” translating to “May God’s grace be sufficient for you, mother, we praise God for you” in English. She further added, “Do the best of your human ability and God will do the rest. You are indeed our pride, Amen,” a sentiment that appeared to laud the president’s leadership.

However, this praise did not sit well with many of her followers, who flooded her comment section with disapproval. One user remarked, “Unfollow Shusho button,” while others called for her cancellation, reflecting widespread discontent.

The backlash stems from perceptions that Shusho was ignoring pressing issues, including political and social challenges in the region.

Fans from both Tanzania and Kenya expressed frustration, feeling her support for Suluhu clashed with their concerns.

Despite the uproar, Shusho’s global influence remains undeniable. Her music has taken her to all seven continents, with performances in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, showcasing her international appeal.

Her career boasts collaborations with prominent artists such as Mercy Masika, Janet Otieno, and Ringtone, resulting in a string of hit songs. Shusho’s accolades further cement her status, including Best Gospel Artist at the Tanzania Music Awards (2016, 2017), Best Female Gospel Artist at the NAMA Awards (2018), Best Tanzanian Artist at the Groove Awards (2012), and Best East African Gospel Artist at the Africa Gospel Music Awards (2013). These achievements highlight her significant contribution to the gospel music scene.

Beyond her musical prowess, Shusho continues to inspire through her faith and entrepreneurial ventures, leaving a lasting imprint on the industry.

She transcends the role of a gospel artist, emerging as a storyteller, spiritual leader, and source of encouragement for millions. While the recent controversy has tested her relationship with some fans, her resilience and legacy suggest she will navigate this challenge, much as she has built her career on a foundation of faith and talent.

Grammy Award-winning gospel legend Kirk Franklin was honored with the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET Awards, capping off the night with a stunning medley performance featuring Tamar Braxton, Muni Long, Jamal Roberts, and Salt of Salt-N-Pepa.

During his moving acceptance speech, Franklin reflected on his personal journey and the healing power of music:

“I never felt the love of a mother or a father,” he said while speaking on his experience with adoption. “The only time I felt love was when I sat behind the piano and wrote songs to Jesus. People loved my songs and the more I wrote, the more people listened. Thank you to all of you that still listen. Thank you to every group, singer, musician that’s been the microphone to my pain.”

He continued with a vulnerable and powerful declaration:

“I am not perfect,” he told the crowd. “I fail, I sin, I am not a perfect Christian, I’m not a perfect husband, and we all know I’m not a perfect father. I’m not even a perfect artist because I can’t even sing, which makes this award even more amazing, because what I really do don’t make sense and if you’re listening to this that’s when you know it’s God when it don’t make sense.”

Franklin then closed the show with a high-energy medley of his greatest hits, including “Stomp,” “Silver & Gold,” and “Melodies From Heaven.” Actor and comedian D.C. Young Fly opened the segment with a fiery sermon, setting the tone for an electrifying remix of “Revolution,” performed by Franklin and his ensemble of gospel artists.

Franklin joined an elite list of honorees on the night, alongside Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, and Jamie Foxx, who were also recognized with Ultimate Icon Awards for their lasting impact on music and entertainment.

April 22, 2025 — The long wait is finally over. Acclaimed gospel artist Richard Nick Ngendahayo has officially released his brand-new single “Uri Byose Nkeneye” ("You Are All I Need"), now available on YouTube and all major streaming platforms.

After more than 15 years away from Rwanda and the music scene, Richard returns with renewed strength and a heart full of worship. The song, already resonating deeply with gospel music lovers, marks a powerful comeback for the artist known for his hit album “NIWE.”

“Uri Byose Nkeneye” is more than just a song—it’s a prayer, a longing, and a spiritual declaration wrapped in a gentle yet powerful melody. It captures the essence of surrender and the deep yearning for God’s presence in the midst of life’s journey. With heartfelt lyrics and soul-stirring delivery, Richard reminds us that God remains the only true source of life and hope. Accompanied by an emotionally charged visual, the release is already making waves online. In a poetic message shared across social media, Richard wrote:

“"The gap has been filled, the lyres have been brought down,

the strings have been retuned.

A voice echoes in the wilderness, returning, resounding without ceasing— For the hour of the LORD of Hosts, the Holy One of Israel, has come."

Let us bow before the One who sits on the Throne in the Holy of Holies and declare:

"YOU ARE ALL I NEED."To all who waited patiently for me —thank you and May Jesus richly bless you!

LONG LIVE YOU ALL!” - Richard Ngendahayo

The song stands as the first single from Richard’s upcoming third album, which he describes as a journey of healing, faith, and revival. “Uri Byose Nkeneye” opens that journey with a clear message: in a world of uncertainty, God remains constant.

The countdown to Gather 25 has begun, and anticipation is soaring as believers from across Africa prepare for this extraordinary event. Slated for March 1, 2025, this monumental gathering will bring together Christians in a powerful time of worship, prayer, and spiritual renewal.

More than just an event, Gather 25 is a 25-hour global broadcast, sharing the incredible stories of the worldwide Church—told by the Church itself. From vibrant worship to profound teachings, this gathering is set to leave an indelible mark on the hearts of attendees and viewers worldwide.

A Star-Studded Lineup of Worship Ministers

A host of renowned gospel artists will take the stage to lead thousands in praise and worship, including Aime Uwimana, Tim Godfrey (Nigeria), Fabrice and Maya, True Promises, Appolinaire and Jeanette (Burundi), Watoto Children’s Choir (Uganda), Prosper Nkomezi, and many more. Alongside these powerful voices, esteemed ministers such as Apostle Moses Mukisa and Pastor Charles Mugisha will deliver transformative messages, calling the Church to a renewed commitment to its mission.

Rwanda: A Beacon of Hope and Faith

Barbara Umuhoza, one of the event’s organizers, underscored the significance of Rwanda as the host nation, stating, “Gather 25 is a testimony of God’s faithfulness. Rwanda has risen from the ashes of its painful past to become a symbol of healing and unity. Hosting the entire African Church here is an affirmation of how far God has brought us.”

She further emphasized that Gather 25 is more than worship and prayer—it is a call to action. “With over five billion people yet to know Christ, this event will reignite our passion for evangelism and remind us of our divine mandate—the Great Commission.”

A Global Experience for All

For those unable to attend in person, Gather 25 will be broadcast live on Radio O and TV O, ensuring that believers worldwide can participate in this powerful experience.

Pastor Samuel Kwizera, a youth leader at New Life Bible Church, highlighted the event’s role in shaping Christian identity, saying, “Gather 25 will awaken a sense of purpose in every believer, reminding us of our collective mission to make disciples of all nations.”

Faith in Action: A Mission Beyond the Arena

Beyond its spiritual impact, Gather 25 is also about giving back. One of the initiatives tied to the event is providing Mutuelle de Santé (health insurance) for the less privileged. Pastor Kwizera emphasized, “The Church isn’t just about preparing souls for heaven; we must also transform lives here on earth. Through acts of love and generosity, we fulfill both the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.”

Young Believers Speak Out

Young Christians are eagerly anticipating Gather 25 as an opportunity for growth and inspiration. Kevine Giramata from New Life Bible Church shared, “This event will allow us to experience Christianity in new ways, learn from others, and be equipped to impact our communities.”

Meanwhile, Jordan Murangwa, leader of New Life Worship Team, expressed his excitement, revealing that they have been preparing through prayer and fasting. “We are ready! We expect a great revival not only for Rwanda but for the entire African Church,” he said, highlighting the unity fostered among worship leaders in the process.

The Gospel Fraternity Unites

The impact of Gather 25 extends beyond individual churches, as gospel ministers and worship leaders join forces to glorify God together. Chryso Ndasingwa, a worship leader, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “It’s an honor to be part of a movement that brings together believers from across Africa. I believe this gathering will be life-changing.”

Gospel icon Fabrice Nzeyimana echoed this sentiment, stating, “Rwanda has become a hub for major Christian gatherings, and this event should serve as a wake-up call for the Church to embrace unity and work together as one body of Christ.”

A Divine Appointment for Africa and Beyond

As Gather 25 approaches, the excitement continues to build. This is not just another Christian event—it is a divine appointment, a time for worship, prayer, and reawakening to the call of evangelism. With thousands expected at BK Arena and countless others joining via live broadcasts, the impact of this historic event will be felt far beyond Kigali.

From spiritual revival to acts of compassion, Gather 25 is poised to be a powerful demonstration of unity, faith, and transformation. As the Church stands together in one spirit, this gathering will inspire believers to go forth and share the message of Christ across Africa and the world.

For his next album which he is already working on, celebrated Ugandan gospel artist Levixone wants to spread his wings to West Africa. In his successful career, Levixone has already performed in different parts of the world, including Europe and parts of Africa.

He, however, believes West Africa is yet to show him the love he deserves and he has hit the studio to work on an album with an aim of penetrating the market in West Africa. To achieve that, Levixone says he is dedicating a lot of time to the quality of sound and he has paid attention to the thinnest of details.

I want people to connect my face to my name. I think my name is already recognized in gospel music, but now I want at least four of my songs to play across West Africa. I’ve worked on some beautiful collaborations with artists from Uganda and around the world.
